All About Grammar & Syntax (Grades 5/6) – 12‑Week Course

Strong grammar and language skills help students become confident readers, writers, and communicators. This 12‑week grammar and syntax course gives students the tools they need to understand how English works and to use it effectively. Through interactive lessons, guided practice, and meaningful examples, students will build a solid foundation in grammar, mechanics, usage, and vocabulary — all while strengthening their overall writing skills.

What Students Will Learn

• Parts of Speech: Students explore nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, conjunctions, prepositions, and interjections — and learn how each one functions in a sentence.

• Sentence Structure:They learn how simple, compound, and complex sentences are formed and how structure affects clarity.

• Sentence Patterns: Students practice common sentence patterns to improve fluency and variety in their writing.

• Types of Verbs: Action verbs, linking verbs, and helping verbs are explored through examples and practice.

• Types of Phrases: Students learn how prepositional, verb, and noun phrases add detail and depth to writing.

• Types of Clauses: They discover how independent and dependent clauses work together to form strong sentences.
