All About Grammar & Syntax (Grades 7/8) – 12‑Week Course

Strong language skills are the foundation of confident communication in writing and reading. This 12‑week unique grammar course gives students the tools they need to understand how English works, sharpen their grammar and usage, and build a powerful vocabulary which can help them edit their work.

What Students Will Learn

Parts of Speech: Students review and apply the functions of nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, conjunctions, prepositions, and interjections.
Abstract and Concrete Nouns: They learn to distinguish between ideas and physical objects.
Simple, Progressive, and Perfect Tenses: Students practice choosing the correct tense to show time, continuity, and completed actions.
Subject‑Verb Agreement: They master the rules that keep sentences clear, correct, and easy to read.
Order of Subject and Predicate: Students learn how sentence structure affects clarity and emphasis.
Verbals: They explore gerunds, infinitives, and participles.

In short stories, we learned how to identify different parts of a story and the themes in the story. I enjoyed reading the short stories and found them quite interesting. In novel studies, I enjoyed reading the books and afterward having debates about topics in the book.

It was really fun when we did impromptu debates because we learned how to prepare a small speech on any topic in just a few minutes.
